The sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, titled Jedi: Survivor, has officially been announced – and rumours are already flying.
The new-gen exclusive Star Wars action game from Respawn Entertainment was confirmed at Star Wars Celebration last week. The game is officially coming out in 2023, and a teaser trailer hinted at what to expect from the game.
Although we only got a brief cinematic trailer, it was enough to get the rumour mill fired up. Of course, Jedi: Survivor sees the return of Cal Kestis, but it also shows an unknown character.
The character in question appears to be in a bacta tank, and nothing is really revealed about them. However, some fans think they’ve already figured out who this character is.
Now, I’m not up to date with my Star Wars lore, but the fans seem to know what they’re talking about. And some of them believe this character is Starkiller.
Jedi: Survivor – Who is Starkiller?
Starkiller, also called Galen Marek, is a force-sensitive assassin who was kidnapped as a child after their parents were murdered. They were trained to be Darth Vader’s apprentice and personal assassin. But they were left for dead after years of working for Vader, betrayed by the iconic villain.
This character currently isn’t canon in the Star Wars universe, as they belonged to the Star Wars Legends universe. They also featured in the Force Unleashed series of games. However, they could be brought back for this game if it fits what the developers want to do with the story.
We know that Cal Kestis will be forced to make “unsavoury alliances”, and Starkiller is definitely up that alley. The story fits the brief trailer we got, and it’s possible the character is using the tank to heal from being left for dead by Vader.
The new game is also going for a darker tone, according to the developers. How much darke remains to be seen, but either way it’s definitely looking exciting for fans of the first game.
According to a press release for the game, Jedi: Survivor is being built for the current generation of gaming hardware. This is to “create a deeper and more expansive Star Wars experience for players worldwide when the game launches in 2023”.
